What is Tidelands Park in Morro Bay?‍

Tidelands Park Sign

Tidelands Park is a two-acre city park located on the end of the Embarcadero in Morro Bay. It is a popular destination for families, tourists, and locals. The park is used for a wide variety of local events, from weddings to birthday parties. It's also home to the town's popular 4th of July celebration. It's a great spot to enjoy a picnic on the well-manicured lawn. What separates Tidelands apart from other city parks is the stunning view. Morro Rock looms over the park, giving spectators breathtaking views of Morro Bay. You can see beautiful views of the rock, the bay, and the boats that travel around the waterway. Many sailboats anchor in the area, adding to the stunning views.

Things to do at Tidelands Park‍

Local families have lovingly named Tidelands Park "Pirate Park." Once you arrive at the park, it's clear to see why. The playground at the park is shaped like a pirate ship, complete with a crows nest that overlooks Morro Bay. There are also nautical elements throughout the park, including a whale's tail, seal statues, and octopus arms that protrude out of the ground.

There is a large grassy area that is perfect for picnicking. There are picnic benches and grills on-site, making it the ideal place to spend a sunny afternoon.

A staircase leads down to the sand spit that protects Morro Bay. The area is muddy, but you can view a wonderful collection of the wildlife that call the area home. The kids will love exploring and identifying all the different creatures that inhabit the area.

Boaters will love the variety of amenities available to them at the park as well. A boat launch nearby offers fantastic views of boats arriving and leaving for those enjoying the playground or an outdoor meal. Boaters using the nearby boat launch can take advantage of the fish cleaning station located at Tidelands. There is also a side tie dock and a pump out for waste. There is even fresh water available.
