The Hearst Castle California is an excellent trip to take that will be an unforgettable part of your time in California.

From the heart of Morro Bay to San Simeon, it’s just under a 30 mile drive. Start your day off with a delicious Morro Bay breakfast and then hit the road. Your trip will only be a short drive, about 40 minutes to an hour and then you’ll be at Hearst Castle, a California and National Historic Landmark. The castle was a joint idea by the publishing tycoon William Randolph Hearst and Julia Morgan, his architect. The castle was built between 1919 and 1947.

Today, there are various tours you can take of the castle. The Grand Rooms Tour, will take you through the grand social rooms of Casa Grande, which is the largest house at the Hearst Castle. During the tour you’ll see the areas where most parties and events were held such as the Assembly room, Billiard rooms, theater and more. This tour is recommended for first time guests. The Cottages & Kitchen Tour allows you to explore two different parts of the castle from the personal rooms of the property such as the Casa del Mar as well as the industrialized kitchen. The Upstairs Suites Tour will take you to the upper floors of the main house to see how William Hearst and his guests lived while at the castle. The Evening Tour is an exciting part of the Living History Program at the castle where docents dress in 1930s attire and are situated throughout the grounds as you meander the castle. The end result is that you'll feel like you’ve traveled back in time to the heyday of the Hearst Castle. For more information on tours, visit the official website today.
